Fujitsu Split System and Ducted Error Codes

The Fujitsu error code list for split systems and ducted units, from Fujitsu Australia’s manuals: what each code means, its lamp blink pattern, and how to read it on a wireless or wired controller.

How Fujitsu Split System and Ducted Error Codes Read

Fujitsu split systems and ducted units show a fault in two ways. With a wireless remote, the indoor unit’s lamps blink the code (on a ducted unit, the lamps on the IR receiver unit): the green OPERATION lamp and the orange TIMER lamp each blink a count, and the green ECONOMY lamp flashes rapidly. With a wired remote controller, the code appears on the controller’s display as two characters (41, 5U, J2).

Both point to the same code. The OPERATION lamp blinking 4 times and the TIMER lamp once is code 41, a room temperature sensor error. The error display shows only while the unit is operating.

This guide covers the error codes for Fujitsu split systems and ducted units, from Fujitsu General Australia’s installation manual for the ARTH ducted range, its ASTG wall-mounted service manual and the UTY-RNRT wired remote controller manual. Fujitsu’s manuals use one shared table, so some codes belong to other models (the multi-split and branch box codes, for example); for older models, check the unit’s own manual. Fujitsu Airstage VRF uses its own list: see the Fujitsu VRF fault code guide.

For licensed technicians. This guide is general information to help you find the right part of the manufacturer’s service manual. Isolate power before opening any unit, follow the manufacturer’s procedures, and leave refrigerant work to a licensed refrigerant technician (in Australia, an ARC licence holder).

Reading the Code on Each Controller

Wireless remote: count the lamp blinks

  1. Watch the indoor unit’s lamps while the unit is running (on a ducted unit, the IR receiver unit).
  2. Count the blinks of the green OPERATION lamp and the orange TIMER lamp. Each blink is 0.5 seconds on, 0.5 seconds off. The green ECONOMY lamp flashes rapidly (0.1 seconds on, 0.1 seconds off) while a code is showing.
  3. Find the two counts in the list below, OPERATION first. The code column gives the matching wired controller code.

Wired remote controller

The code appears on the controller’s display. On the wired remote controller in the ASTG wall-mounted manual, “Er” appears in the set room temperature display, with the code.

Touch-panel wired controller (UTY-RNRT)

An error icon appears on the Monitor mode screen. Touch Status, then Error Information, to see the unit address and its two-digit error codes. Touch Next page to see the other connected indoor units. Fujitsu points to each unit’s installation manual for the indoor and outdoor unit codes (the list below); the controller’s own codes (CC.1, 12.1, 26.4 and others) are at the end of the table.

The same fault, on your phone

Know about 41 before the call comes in.

An FCU Gateway at the unit’s own control terminals connects it to a NexusLite, Zonelite-Link, ZoneNexus or Nexus. Its fault codes then show in the free AirNexus app, and the app sends a push notification when a unit reports a fault.

Fujitsu Split System and Ducted Error Code List

Search by code, lamp count or keyword. Lamp blinks are OPERATION (green) then TIMER (orange). Code 58 (intake grill error) is from the ASTG wall-mounted service manual; every other two-character code is from the ARTH ducted manual. The UTY-RNRT controller’s own codes are at the end.

Run Fujitsu Splits and Ducted on AirNexus

AirNexus supplies the controls and your HVAC contractor installs them. One app covers every connected unit on the site.

Running Fujitsu VRF on the same site? A Nexus 8, 16 or 32 runs it on the central control line: see VRF control. Not sure which fits? Use the Project Finder. AirNexus supplies Australia and New Zealand; distributors and project teams elsewhere can register as a partner.

Fujitsu fault codes: frequently asked questions

How do I read a Fujitsu error code from the indoor unit lamps?

Count the blinks of the green OPERATION lamp and the orange TIMER lamp while the unit is running; the green ECONOMY lamp flashes rapidly while a code is showing. Find the two counts in the code list, OPERATION first: OPERATION 4 and TIMER 1 is code 41, a room temperature sensor error. Search the list.

What does Fujitsu error code 5U mean?

5U is an indoor unit error. With a wireless remote it shows as the OPERATION lamp blinking 5 times and the TIMER lamp 15 times. See 5U in the list.

What does Fujitsu error code 12 mean?

12 is a wired remote controller communication error. On the indoor unit lamps it shows as the OPERATION lamp blinking once and the TIMER lamp twice. The UTY-RNRT touch-panel controller also has its own codes for its wired remote controller system: 12.1, 12.3 and 12.4. See 12 in the list.

Are Fujitsu VRF error codes the same as split system codes?

They are a different list. Fujitsu Airstage V-II VRF codes, including the outdoor unit display codes such as 86.4 and 13.1, are in the Fujitsu VRF fault code guide.

Can I see Fujitsu fault codes in an app?

Yes. An FCU Gateway wired at the unit’s own control terminals connects one Fujitsu air conditioner to a NexusLite, Zonelite-Link, ZoneNexus or Nexus. On/off, mode, fan, setpoint, room temperature and fault codes then show in the free AirNexus app, and the app sends a push notification when a unit reports a fault. Fujitsu is one of the FCU Gateway’s 15 brands, and we confirm compatibility for each unit at quote stage. See the FCU Gateway.
