What Air Smart Does Differently
Air Smart is a Melbourne-based manufacturer of Indoor Environment Systems — IES for short. The distinction matters. An IES isn’t just heating and cooling; it’s climate comfort and air purification delivered as one integrated system. That integration is the product.
The company has delivered more than 2,500 systems across Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, typically into high-end residential builds where architectural integrity matters as much as performance. Air distribution uses pressurised ducting — a Bernoulli-principle approach that eliminates the hot and cold spots common with conventional low-velocity ducting. The 3-stage air purification removes up to 97% of particulates and up to 90% of chemical fumes and odours.
The hardware is designed to disappear into the building. Small diffusers preserve ceiling lines. Multi-positional units fit in roofs, under floors, or in cupboards. AirNexus enables this system to integrate with Apple HomeKit, Google, and the home automation platforms Control4 and Savant.

Why Monitoring Matters for Premium Systems
A system this sophisticated deserves more than a thermostat and a yearly service call. Without monitoring, you’re relying on the homeowner to notice when something isn’t right — and by then, air quality may have degraded, energy consumption increased, or a component may already be failing.
Real-time monitoring closes that gap. You see what every zone is doing, how hard the system is working, and whether performance is tracking where it should be. The questions become answerable in seconds rather than inferred from symptoms: which zone is underperforming, is the outdoor unit cycling more than it should, is the purification stage showing its expected pressure drop or is a filter loading up ahead of schedule.
Monitoring isn’t about fixing problems. It’s about making sure problems don’t happen in the first place. For homeowners, that means the system keeps performing as designed, quietly, for years. For installers and integrators, it means fewer reactive callouts and more planned maintenance — better for the client, better for the business.
The best indoor environment is one you never notice. Monitoring is how you keep it that way.
How AirNexus Integrates with Air Smart Systems
AirNexus Nexus gateways connect to Air Smart’s Indoor Environment Systems via standard protocols used in the AV and building automation world — the same layer Air Smart integrators already work with day to day.
Once connected, the data comes through in real time:
- Real-time zone temperatures and setpoints across every room, refreshed every few seconds
- Energy consumption tracking per system — see exactly how much power the IES draws and where it goes
- Health scores per unit — runtime patterns, cycling behaviour, and trend data that flag degradation before it becomes a fault
- Fault code alerts delivered to phone or dashboard — so you know what’s happening without a site visit
- Multi-zone heatmaps showing comfort distribution across the home
It’s all managed through the Nexus iQ cloud platform, accessible from any device. The platform is protocol-agnostic: if a home uses Control4, Savant, KNX, or another automation platform that Air Smart integrators already work with, AirNexus sits alongside rather than replacing it.

Casalinga Estate — Where It All Came Together
Casalinga Estate is a private residence where Air Smart systems and AirNexus monitoring were deployed together. The property uses Air Smart units for climate delivery and air purification; AirNexus provides the monitoring layer — zone-by-zone diagnostics, energy tracking, and system health scoring — across every unit in the home.
Air Smart installation was completed by ACSM, a certified Air Smart integrator with a long track record of premium residential work. Control4 smart home integration was completed by Baillie. Both worked alongside AirNexus to deliver a fully integrated, fully monitored indoor environment.
The outcome is the point worth noting. The client has full visibility of their indoor environment — not just temperature, but air quality performance, energy usage, and system health — all from a single dashboard. When a component drifts outside its expected operating range, the platform flags it before the client ever notices. When filters need changing, the schedule is driven by data rather than a calendar entry.
The project also validated the integration path. Air Smart’s hardware and AirNexus monitoring worked together without bespoke engineering — the data flowed in real time from day one.

For Air Smart Integrators
If you’re an Air Smart qualified integrator, adding AirNexus monitoring to your installations gives your clients a more complete offering — and differentiates your work from competitors who deliver a system and walk away.
The practical value is remote visibility. You can see every system you’ve installed from a single dashboard. That changes the shape of the service relationship: you can reach out about a unit that’s showing early warning signs, schedule maintenance before a fault occurs, and handle minor adjustments without a truck roll. Fewer reactive callouts, more planned work, longer client relationships.
AirNexus also supports the brands Air Smart integrators routinely encounter on mixed-system homes — Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Stiebel Eltron, and more. So when a property has an Air Smart IES in the main house and hydronic heating or a pool heat pump in an outbuilding, everything is monitored from one platform instead of three different vendor apps.
No hard sell here — just an open door.
